Making a good first impression

by: Anne O'Connell (26 August 2015)

If you meet someone in person, you can win them over with a smile, eye contact, a firm handshake and your sunny disposition. It's well known that first impressions count and are made very quickly.

The same is true when someone 'meets' you in writing.

The jobs market is ever more competitive, and you have a tiny window of opportunity to ensure that you get to make that first impression in person. Someone has to wade through the mound of applications in order to determine who gets an interview. If an applicant hasn't checked the spelling and accuracy in something as important as a job application or CV, how diligent are they going to be at their job?

It's notoriously difficult to spot errors in your own work, even if you come back to it later. You know what it says, so you don't read it as someone else would. Here at WriteItClearly.com, we can help. We can check your covering letter and CV so that they are free from errors and clearly presented.

Give yourself every opportunity to make that first impression in person!
