It's National Novel Writing Month

by: Anne O'Connell (17 November 2015)

The leaves have fallen from the trees, the clocks have gone back, the nights are drawing in and Christmas is fast approaching. What better time to curl up indoors and get writing?

We’re now halfway through National Novel Writing Month, known to its friends as NaNoWriMo. You might ask what’s special about this month – can’t you write at any time? Well yes, but NaNoWriMo is an initiative to kick-start your writing, challenging participants to write a 50,000 word novel by 30th November. It’s aimed at anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel – is that you?

If you fancy making the most of the rest of the month, why not challenge yourself to write a short story or novella rather than a full-blown novel? Just think, if you managed even 1,000 words a day from now until the end of the month, you’ll have written 15,000 words! Have a look at the NaNoWriMo website for a host of ideas and resources: http://nanowrimo.org/. When you’ve done your first draft, send it to us at WriteItClearly.com for proofreading or editing. Make your foray into fiction the best it can be. Good luck!
