Turned out nice again

by: Anne O'Connell (27 April 2017)

I'm as guilty as the next Briton of talking about the weather in nearly every conversation. Why do we do it? I think it's twofold: it's a safe subject for a casual chat and the weather is so varied here that there's usually something to comment on.

I was disappointed to learn that the Inuit don't really have fifty words for snow after all but Brits have plenty for rain and its variations (Fifty words for rain). If you have a spare five minutes today, see how many you can come up with.

Perhaps the biggest danger of climate change is not the death of the planet, but the possibility of us having to talk about something more personal. And today's report? Chilly but bright with some wispy cloud. Turned out nice again.
